about 60 cm · 30–40 minutes · 6 colours

Easy lotus rangoli design for Diwali with pink petals, a yellow centre and green leaves
Colour illustration of the design, made to look like real rangoli powder.

A big lotus seen from above, with two rings of pink petals, a yellow centre and green lily-pad leaves around it.

Colours you need

  • white
  • yellow
  • pink
  • light pink
  • green
  • light blue

Steps

  1. Draw a circle for the centre, then eight petals around it and eight bigger petals behind them.
  2. Draw eight round lily-pad leaves around the outside.
  3. Trace every line with white rangoli powder.
  4. Fill the centre yellow, the inner petals pink and the outer petals light pink.
  5. Fill the leaves green, then add diyas and marigolds around the edge.

With little ones: an adult draws the outline, children fill the big shapes with their fingers. Light the diyas only at the end and keep them out of reach.
