A big diya with a bright flame in the middle of a ring of purple and pink petals: the perfect rangoli for the festival of lights.

Colours you need

  • white
  • yellow
  • orange
  • red
  • purple
  • pink

Steps

  1. Draw a big circle, then the diya shape in the middle and a teardrop flame on top.
  2. Draw twelve petals all round the circle.
  3. Trace every line with white rangoli powder.
  4. Fill the diya orange and yellow, and the flame yellow with a little red in the middle.
  5. Fill the petals purple and pink, one after the other.

With little ones: an adult draws the outline, children fill the big shapes with their fingers. Light the diyas only at the end and keep them out of reach.
