about 60 cm · 30–45 minutes · 6 colours

Easy flower rangoli design for Diwali with pink petals, orange petals, green leaves and blue dots, with diyas at the corners
Colour illustration of the design, made to look like real rangoli powder.

A bright, classic flower: a yellow centre, eight round pink petals, orange pointed petals behind them, green leaves and blue dots around the edge.

Colours you need

  • white
  • yellow
  • pink
  • orange
  • green
  • blue

Steps

  1. Draw a small circle in the middle with chalk, then eight round petals around it.
  2. Add eight pointed petals behind the round ones, then the green leaves and the dots on the outside.
  3. Trace every line with white rangoli powder.
  4. Fill the centre yellow, the round petals pink and the pointed petals orange.
  5. Fill the leaves green and the dots blue, then place diyas and marigolds at the corners.

With little ones: an adult draws the outline, children fill the big shapes with their fingers. Light the diyas only at the end and keep them out of reach.
