Labh Pancham rangoli

For Labh Pancham, when new work and new account books begin: a red chopda with a yellow string in the middle of a square frame with flowers at the corners.

Colours you need

• red
• yellow
• green
• orange
• pink
• white

Steps

1. Draw a big square, then a flower in each corner.
2. Draw a rounded flower shape in the middle with a closed book on it.
3. Trace every line with white powder.
4. Fill the book red with a yellow string, and the middle shape yellow.
5. Fill the corner flowers pink and orange, and the leaves along the sides green.

With little ones: an adult draws the outline, children fill the big shapes with their fingers. Light the diyas only at the end and keep them out of reach.
