Agiyaras rangoli

A calm, light rangoli for Agiyaras, the first day of the Diwali week: a white and yellow flower in the middle, green leaves, and a ring of orange diya shapes.

Colours you need

• white
• light yellow
• pale green
• orange
• light pink

Steps

1. Draw a circle in the middle and twelve petals around it.
2. Add eight leaves and eight small diya shapes in the outer ring.
3. Trace every line with white powder.
4. Fill the petals yellow, the leaves green and the diyas orange.
5. Add a pink centre and a few dots between the leaves.

With little ones: an adult draws the outline, children fill the big shapes with their fingers. Light the diyas only at the end and keep them out of reach.
